We have alot of members on this forum.So...can someone tell me why this forum seems to be dead? I know folks have questions.want to know were the games are(Ops,big games,or just want to know who still plays airsoft).Ask away people! Any upgrade questions? Who needs gun repair? Any teams looking for recruits? Where can I get uniforms? What type of bb's should I use in my gun? Etc.
I also want to see if we can change the forum around.Update the smilies :fighterpilot: 8O :shiftymask: :D :) :( :P :o  :'( >:( :? :| 8-) ;) . Again I'm tried of looking at southpark people(I don't watch the show anymore).
We also have to check on the fields we use and have to play on.We have 3 to 4 fields that we can use.I don't care who claims any of the fields(Warzone,Badlands,Nesh or Crossroads. If you need help with maintenance or small build outs.Let people know.

Maybe a cycle. People wander around different boards. I had 5 new users in one week and they posted like fools. Then they went away and the normal people came back.

Do like I do, generate interest by posting topics and new gear/Guns coming out. It might help.

I dunno, man. Seems forum activity is also down elsewhere. LVA, HCA, and here for sure. The NJ forums seem to be a bit more active from what I can tell.

I agree with Keeper. I see it too, forum activity goes up with new users, they dissapear, and the old heads come back out of the woodwork.

There are so many forums out now its almost impossible for one to really have a dedicated following. What we need is to have Op's, and we need to plan them well. Make people remember the Good time they had with Philly Airsoft, and not just the run-of-the-mill convo and answers they can get from a few minutes with google. No small undertaking, I know. If I recall, this forum was created to facilitate the number of Philly posters on HCA (why post games on a forum based one hour away?). Now that that core group has split off in their own directions, it's up to the dedicated players to keep this up. PhillyAirsoft can be big, but we need to take proactive steps to keep it that way. Patches, flags, logo's. Word or mouth, and Operations that are intriguing. Powderburn was a great attempt and it could have been better. But there were issues, and we should have improved them rather let them fall to the wayside.

opinions?

Merchandise is a good start. Having Patches, Hats and the like is a good way to generate interest and some income to pay for the website. T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and so on as well. Problem is keeping stock or any kind of inventory on those items would not be cost effective. :(

We need to COME TOGETHER and think. When ATLAS was around, there was a want. There were some elements that prevented it from actually becoming, such as people with different agendas in Airsoft. Some people play this just for the fun of shooting someone with an Airsoft gun. I know I'm more competitive and would rather play on a team with like-minded folks. The same goes for the forum. We need to have a leadership who leads and doesnt disappear. The forum is shrinking because our leadershit has been poor. There have been attempts to fix it, ask Greg. But there are roadblocks due to lack of willing participation.

Would closing this forum and starting from scratch fix it? Didn't that happen in New Jersey? What was the point of the creation of the NJAL? Also, what is the AirsoftNJ doing? I thought that was going down the tubes, but I usually visit them once a day! Thats more then I can say for even Facebook, and I have a Facebook App on my phone...Thats probably a personal problem...lol.

Keeper, I think T-Shirts are a good possibility. But we need to have a playerbase that actually visits the site once a day. Starting small is where I would go. I have a NEPA Airsoft patch. I bought 2 and gave one to a friend of mine. PhillyAirsoft could do that. We need a following to do that, and I think that without at least doing the things I've mentioned here and above, were not going anywhere.

Hey Bryan, why don't you stop beating around the bush? Just come right out and say whose fault you think it is that the forum is dead. We all know the answer, of course, but just humor me for the sake of all the new folks.

Your right Sean. NOW we all know the answer. Here we are in a serious conversation about the future of our website, and AGAIN we have an interuption so we can swing our internet dicks.

Let me continue being direct with you. ITS EVERYONES FAULT. STOP READING INTO IT AND APPRECIATE MY WORDS AT FACE VALUE.

We came into this halfassed. There was no plan. There was no real calling for an internet site beyond what we the Philly group of HCA wanted. HB came onboard and we developed a small following from that because the website came up. Unfortunately, It was during that time, that WE DISCOVERED AS ADULTS that we dont all work well together. WE SHOULD HAVE JUST CONTINUED PLAYING rather then take on a responsibility such as this.

I requested moderator-ship becuase I wanted to support the sport of Airsoft within this town. To take what I learned as a Boy Scout and show that shooting sports can actually be a positive thing. However, its comments like yours above that take away from the point! MDOT was trying to spur activity within our diminishing participation and rather then contribute, you try calling me out! Over what? Something that Steve and I might have disagreed on? Because there was a time where we actually tolerated shooting at each other in the safe zone? Because I didn't want to further alienate myself from another friend by calling him a Fag with another supposed friend? Im sorry. Thats not what friends do.

I don't hate folks. I have my disagreements and I put distance. But I make it a point to avoid spreading gossip. You and Steve have come up in conversation. TO KEEP THE PEACE, I walk away. Not commenting shows my inititive. Which is to play Airsoft.

It is my hope that one day, we can be friends. Really. Steve was there for me when I was just learning. Unfortunately, I was rarely put in a position that I was able to repay him. Steve, aka ManOwar, thanks for being a friend when I needed it. But I think I made the right grown-up decision when I stepped out from between you and Greg. Im sorry you and I have been distanced, and I think it can be fixed. If its really what you feel to continue this attitude of postering and seperation is ideal, then so be it. I have done the same thing in other places. Long_Shots knows exactly what I'm talking about.

There, I'm sure I've acknowledged what you were refering to Sean.

Maybe if I'm bored enough at work I'll reduce myself to replying to this nonsense.

Probably not.

Now it's all out in the open.I hope we can move on from here and not return to this point. All I want to do is grow the forum and have a steady following. We need more input from the members on this forum.I was just asking for ideas and more people to step up.

I've been here ...just nothing to say. Most of the games have been Saturdays which are out for me. And the majority of those Mike posted for the Chemplant or Quarry. There hasn't bee much posted at the local fields. I'm hoping for some Sunday games now and then.

As far as why there's no activity? ...who knows. I thought the added sections and stuff would encourage people to use it. That's not the case apparently. I see AAR's for games that weren't posted. There's some market place posts. There's new members that join and there's no games to attend.

I'd like to see more reference material posts and technical posts. I'd post it up ...but I don't know anything about the technical side especially the AEG's and modifications. The new sections have barely been used. It's discouraging since the whole intent was to add activity. I'm at fault as much as anyone for not being as active ...but I've barely had the time to attend games. When there's something to post or respond to I will. Lately it's been a daily check to see if there's anything new. I'll work on that.

I can't be as active trying to get things going locally since participation is crucial ...and I just can't get out to shoot all that often right now. I keep an eye out here to make sure it didn't fall apart but I can't be posting up games I'm not even attending. It seems like everyone has been getting field time elsewhere. There's been regular "new members" has anyone reached out and got them to games somewhere? I'd do it but I didn't see any games posted but Mike's in KOP and one Nesh game that got cancelled. Even if I couldn't make it I would've at least let them know it was posted.

The politics nonsense ....it doesn't matter really. If you don't like someone that's fine ....I think it's best to just keep it off the field and off the forum. It does no good. Just because people don't get along doesn't mean games can't be played. At least each side gets the opportunity to one up their counterpart on the field. Otherwise act civil for the sake of everyone else.

The only way to get things going like before is to spend some time on the new members and getting them to some games regardless of where. The fields locally are barely being used. Nesh is small ...but if 6-10 players want to shoot it works just fine. Team patches and stuff are a great idea ...but I think efforts are being wasted going in that direction. Scheduling a few practice days and running some drills at Nesh or the Chemplant and get the new members there will help. I just can't put something together I can't even attend. The teams that don't use the site as much like the AWSM guys, they still visit and check things out. Even some of the other forum guys might attend a local game. I bet no one has used the Badlands since last year. I think getting games going is the best plan. We used to have to pick which weekend game we'd attend ..or both.
