Looking spare mags on Evike and other sites, I see hi cap: with 400~600+ rounds, mid cap: with 100~150 (no winding), and others that hold only 30 (no winding). In understand hi cap, because you can get away with carrying 1~2 and don't have to reload very often. I also understand 30 round mags, because you have to switch out with realistic frequency. Why do people use mid cap mags?

Mid caps offer the most capacity and reliability with the most realism. You can carry a good amount of rounds (this is airsoft so lets face it 30 per mag just doesnt cut it moset of the time) and there is no noise with movement or annoying winding like hi caps. I use them and will use nothing else. If you were to carry 3 300 round hi caps then you carry just as many rounds as I do where as I am carrying 9 mid caps. It just makes it more realistic. Hi caps are annoying because they can turn ANY player who uses them into a SAW gunner which is just stupid. Basically I see them as the midpoint between realism and practicality for airsoft, hi caps hold too much, low caps hold too little so the mid cap is just right in my mind.

I use hi-caps and mid-caps(2 300rd hi-caps when I play).I carry more mids then hi's(about 13 mags in all).As far as for realism...that's up for a very long debate. Not for this topic. The pro's and con's depend on the player.Going semi or fullauto(taking good shots or spraying everything),how you move on the field(the rattleof hi-caps to the silence of mids).Like I said I use mids more.120rd and 130rd maybe one or two 90rd.Just remember it's your choice.Besides you can always use both like I do.

I use mid cap mags because I can switch mags faster on the field then re wind a high cap. Plus they are lighter and don't rattle. Plus they take more abuse and are cheeper to replace.

I dislike sounding like I'm running with a coffee can full of pebbles...or maybe that's my knees, I don't know. Thanks! That's very helpful.

I hate hicaps. I hate winding them up I hate the rattle they make. Good thing systema ptws dont have them so its mid caps. G&G mid caps had the best mags I have played with prior to the PTW that is. High caps are kinda stupid your playing with a toy the emulates a real weapon you need to reload a real weapon not turn a wheel on the bottom. I rather reload.

Those who know me, know I use mids. But I have to say that some of my mids didn't feed properly in my guns and i had to replace them. Never have I had that problem with High Caps.

My choice for mags:
-M4
G&P Metal 130rd Mid-Caps (Have not found a gun they do not like)
MAG (Plastic) 100rd Mod-Caps (Decent but some guns don't like them)

-MP5
MAG (Plastic) 90rd Midcaps (Light and work in every MP5 I own or have owned)
G&P Metal 110rd Mid-Caps (Works in most MP5 except my ICS MX5)

Funny thing is I got two High Caps with my Echo1 MP5 and 1 with my MX5 and gave them all away to my Squad mate as he did not have many MP5 mags. I do admit though, I take my MP5 C-Mag with me for fun when I start to get tired at the end of the day..... :)

I personaly like the Magpul E mags for my M4 and M16. I've let other people use them in their M4s and never had an issue. Now the high caps have become a pain in the ass trying to figure out what brand to use, Seems my two guns can't agree on one brand of high cap.

I picked up a set of 5 to try. Seem to work fine in my M4 DMR, but I have to test them in my TAR to get the final word. ;)

Im sure they will work fine. I have them and have let countless teammates and players use them and they all have had nothing but the best things to say about them. The best mid cap mags made to date in my opinion.
