Howdy folks, I'm the founder and events coordinator for a new organization, Pennsylvania Post-Apocalypse Airsoft. http://papostapocalypseairsoft.webs.com/Our website is still very much under construction. I figured I would join this forum as I myself am located about 15 minutes Northeast of Philadelphia, however currently our organization is working on gaining access to a 122 acre facility to host multi-day events at in Northeast PA. Unlike regular games of airsoft and paintball, our objective is not to have an event with set objectives and and pit two teams against each other for an all-out battle, but rather create an environment and plot driven by characters and factions created by individuals within the confines of the continuity theme which is akin to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Metro 2033, and Fallout series of games. Players are responsible for their own choice of action, with only general objectives based on the plot of the event given to factions. Players themselves can choose to join a faction or follow their own path as a loner or band together in a group with friends. Factions are made by players that, once formally recognized, become part of the plot of events to come. Players also drive the economy of the game through the selling of objects, the value of which is determined by NPC traders, shop keepers, and perceived value. NPCs are determined before games and generally are played by players multiple times for as long as the player would like, and NPCs are in no way hindered in their gameplay other than they must do their jobs. They are free to do their job as they see fit and partake in any and all gameplay so long as they continue to act their role. Much gameplay, rules, and ideas are yet to be fleshed out, but even as I type this I await the owner of the 122 acre 28 field facility's return from vacation to discuss our organization's use of the field for single and multi-day events. PA Post-Apocalypse Airsoft is looking for people to help organize events in the future and assist in running the organization and running games. As you can tell from the above post this is a whole other animal from normal games, following suit with our Russian brethren who host S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games of a similar style, however they have Pripyat to host their games, while we here in the states must be more creative. Any helping hands are appreciated, as well as anyone interested in becoming members of the organization, creating their persona, and partaking in the most realistic FPS Post-Apocalyptic game as yet done to my knowledge in the USA! Much more information will be made available and a forum will be made for further discussion as time progresses. -Medved Events Coordinator with PA Post-Apocalypse Airsoft

I'm not going to give out too much information on the location yet because I have not gotten a confirm that we will be using the facility for sure. Next week I'll be having a meeting with the facility owner next week to do full-on discussions about using the fields so I'll be able to give a lot more info then. I can say it is a fairly long haul north. It is about 2 hours and 50 minutes north of me, but the events will be multi-day and absolutely worth the drive.

I am central to the Wilkes-barre/Scranton Area, can you at least give me a heads up if it is close to that?

The difference between this and LARPing is we don't throw red tissue paper at each other and yell "FIREBALL!" You are correct that there are some aspects of LARP, but that gives the game context and depth. It is a Live Action First Person Shooter Role Play. If you could walk into your computer screen while playing Fallout you would find something similar. (Albeit our special effects are much less impressive than that would be....) Russia has a lot of fun with this concept http://englishrussia.com/2008/05/29/the-real-stalker/It takes all the great aspects of Airsoft and combines it with LARP (I hate using that term by the way, as it has that negative connotation you alluded to.) Again, it is as if you could walk into your video game, just with less explosions. The concept may not be for everyone but anyone is welcome to join in!

I've added a forum to the PAPAA site, as well as a few more pages. Still under heavy construction but anyone interested in the organization/ events feel free to head over there and make an account on the website and use the forum.
I'll be adding forum pages and doing more work on content in the coming days.
Anyone who is interested in helping to organize and run PAPAA please note that when you make a membership application.
Also, if there is another area of the boards that I could post up a thread specific to PAPAA, I would be much obliged to be pointed in it's direction. I can't find anything that would seem a suitable place to post a thread related to the organization so I would assume the general + questions board would be as appropriate as it gets, however if I could get a confirm on that it'd be wonderful.
Thanks, Medved

Sure sounds like E.M.R. Paintball in Milford to me. Never been there though.

Up late again making random things to add depth to events -- this is what I came up with! Based on ammo boxes from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, I took a .38 special ammo box I had laying around from the last time I hit the range which I opened so it was flat, and worked some photoshop magic to come up with an original 7.62x39 template. I can adapt the template for several calibers and will likely make a 5.56 box next. Inside of these I will put baggies of BBs and players can purchase them with in-game currency during events.

Radio Silence Broken! Received a message from the owner of the first field (and best field so far). I'm not at home unfortunately and so was unable to speak to the owner, however I will be chatting with him further on Monday. Don't get too excited yet, but this could be the beginning of our having a field to host events at! Stay tuned for updates after I speak with the owner on Monday!

It is official! Pennsylvania Post-Apocalypse Airsoft will be holding events at EMR Paintball Park in New Milford PA! (Yes, Keeper, you were right on the money! ) I spoke with the owner today and he was very interested in having our events hosted there. He spoke with his insurance company and they gave the green light for our events with mostly standard rules to adhere to! Some of the rules are as follows: Bio-degradable BBs are required. EMR has many multi-level structures that would present a slip and fall hazard if there were millions of BBs on them that never went away. Full-seal ANSI rated goggles are REQUIRED with some form of protection over the ears and mouth. In otherwords, if you wear a paintball mask, you are good to go, if you wear just goggles, you must wear a balaclava or other face protection. safety glasses and etc are obviously a NO-GO which would have been the case regardless. (While this is more strict that some places, it fits in well with the scenario if one considers the likely radiation and possible caustic atmosphere.) ROUGH estimate for games would be $30 dollars. This is NOT confirmed and may likely change depending on the number of people and etc. The field will (for now at least) require a deposit at least 2 weeks in advance, which means entry money will need to be paid ahead of time either as a group (I.E. you give you payment to PAPAA and we give them the lump-sum) or players will pay EMR ahead of time. This has not been discussed in depth and more details will be forthcoming. Camping where you are is most likely what will happen for our multi-day events pending more talks between EMR and their insurance. There will be a strict 10 or 11PM curfew (definite time pending talks with the insurance.) where there will not be ANY FIRING whatsoever so that people can remove their masks and sleep. ANYONE who gets caught firing their airsoft gun will be immediately expelled from that game and likely any further games with no refund and your name will be booed and hissed at for threatening our good relationship with EMR. 1-2 fields or more will be allotted to us for use solely by airsofters at our event for the duration of our event depending on numbers of attendees. The more people come out, the more likely we will get more fields for our usage, however even with just 1-2 fields we're looking at about 20-25 acres of land for use! More details will come as this is just the beginning of talks. I'll be getting an e-mail sometime tonight or tomorrow with an aerial view of the fields with the area we will likely be using (Less used by paintballers, which means less paint!) for events as well as contact information for the gent who I will be visiting to take a tour of the facility in person. HUZZAH!

It's a possibility. But don't get mad when I pick off 4-5 man teams at once; I'm one hella stealthy recon.
